Leonardo drew this sheet about 1490, inscribing a nude man first in a square — arms level, feet together — then in a circle — arms raised, legs strided — following the proportions Vitruvius attributed to nature itself. Here the drawing has been rebuilt as layered sheets of ink and parchment that you may lift apart.
